Why are kids so scared to admit they like someone?

April 28, 2009 in Funny, Parenting Q&A

Why are kids so scared to admit they like someone?? My nephew told everyone at the dinner table who my daughter was crushing on. And she starts blushing and smiling but she’s still denied it. If she likes this boy and wants to go out with him,why would she deny it. Wouldn’t everyone know when and if they go out??

  1. Because, it’s none of your Business. Parents like to poke fun at it, pinch our cheeks, wolf whistle, etc… IT PISSES US OFF! I have never admitted to EITHER my parents or brother who I fancy. Only my friends. Our emotions are none of your Business! And we are also scared you will disaprove and stop us seeing them.

  2. Think back to when you were a kid. If someone told your whole family you were crushing on the neighborhood boy, would you admit it or deny it. Personally I would deny it because every girl has that little secret they’d like to write in their diary and have no one no about. Besides thats super embarressing. When you like someone parents and reletives love to make fun of a crush a child has. Just let it go and let them be a kid.

  3. well i think people just are naturally afraid of rejection. not saying she’s gonna get rejected, but it’s just it makes people vulnerable to admit they like someone, and even though its just children, theres always that thought of putting yourself on the line when admitting you like someone.

  4. Because it’s embarassing to admit you like someone when they might not like you back, and if they reject you and people don’t know then you don’t have to talk about it, but if people know then they make a big deal. It’s just less awkward.

  5. She’s probably scared of people talking about it, trying to keep it quiet DOES not work.

  6. Adults are like that too…
It’s a natural reaction: fear of being hurt and rejected by someone you really care about.
It is funny, but then it’s really not if the person gets hurt.

  7. not if she keeps it a secret. thats what i do 🙂
